2014 "Book A Cruise" Program and Event
"Book A Cruise" is a summer reading program sponsored by The Boys and Girls Club of Webster-Dudley and the
Chester C. Corbin Public Library in Webster. Young people who complete the program are eligible to
attend the "Book A Cruise" event at Memorial Beach in Webster.
This year, the event was held on August 14, 2014 and approximately 250 from the library reading program and 80 from the Boy's and Girl's Club completed the program and were eligible to attend. At the event, participants can take a cruise around the lake and also have lunch at the beach. A.J. Alkire of Point Breeze Restaurant provided the food and, with a member of his staff, Roger, prepared it.
This year, Webster Lake Association members volunteered their time and seventeen pontoon boats to provide rides around the lake for participants, families and others. Each boat made 2-3 trips around North Pond in order to accommodate all those wanting rides. Ray Travis served as the WLA coordinator for the boats. The WLA is happy to help these other organizations and to support this excellent program.
