Hydro-raking news - Due to a D.E.P. Policy change, hydro-raking will not be performed on Webster Lake in 2025.

Pout Pond Ecological Restoration Project

The State of Massachusetts has given the Webster Lake Association a grant to remove non-native and nuisance vegetation from Pout Pond. The vegetation removal would be done with mechanical hydro-raking only. Herbicide treatment would be used in future maintenance. The Benefits of this project include controlling non-native and nuisance vegetation, improve fish habitat, improve water quality and slow pond eutrophication. Eutrophication is a process that occurs when a body of water receives too many nutrients, which causes excessive growth of algae and plants.

Solitude Lake Mangement Company and the Webster Lake Association met with the D.E.P. in February. Goddard Consulting completed the Permit. Core Samples were taken and are being processed in the Lab.
